Generic connectivity

Oracle Generic Connectivity allows the Oracle database to interface with ODBC and OLE DB drivers for accessing non-Oracle systems. Although generic connectivity is provided free of charge with the database server, it is slower than and limited in functionality compared to Oracle's Gateways.

ODBC agents are supported on Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, and Windows, while OLE DB is only supported on Windows.
